I specialize in working with individuals struggling with weight loss and weight management. I provide an alternative strategy to weight loss based on cognitive therapy that allows people to change their life and their relationship with food, instead of just dieting.
I am a licensed clinical social worker based in New York City. I specialize in individual and couples psychotherapy. I graduated from NYU and have 10+ years of experience working with adults and families in a variety of settings, including hospital psychiatric emergency room and and community clinics.
As a Licensed Mental Health Therapist, I am a firm believer in the importance of taking care of your mental health. I have worked with individuals, families, and groups of all ages, supporting clients through concerns such as anxiety, depression, grief, trauma, identity exploration, and life transitions.
I started my career as a litigation attorney in Ireland where I grew up. I spent many years working in law and financial services in the US, Australia, and China. Most recently, I worked as a therapist for a community activist organization.
I was drawn to therapy from my prior career having seen firsthand the enormous value it can bring in improving both the quality and enjoyment of our lives. Therapy offers us a safe space to explore the parts of ourselves we cannot access in the midst of our daily routines. When we get right down to it, the quality of the relationships we have with others flows from the relationship we have with ourselves.
I live in Brooklyn with my husband, our two kids and a mildly anxious dog, whose interest in therapy is limited to eating her feelings. I work with clients both in person, in mid-town Manhattan, and remotely.
As a clinical psychologist with 20 years of experience I believe the therapeutic relationship is at the heart of change. I have been able to walk alongside clients dealing with depression, anxiety, many different types of trauma, the impact of immigration and acculturation, grief and loss, as well as racial trauma. I aim to have the clients I work with feel seen, heard, and understood. I offer a person centered and trauma-informed approach that is rooted in anti-oppression principles and social justice. My work honors culture as a form of resilience and liberation.
I welcome clients of all identities and backgrounds, including class, race, spirituality, gender and sexuality; noting that we all live with multiple identities that shape our experiences and worldview.
