Hi, I’m Kevin Chou, MD!
I am an inpatient psychiatrist at NYU / Bellevue Hospital, and am now doing outpatient telepsychiatry for anyone, anywhere. I went to a 7-year med program (TCNJ and New Jersey Medical School, did my residency at Zucker Hillside Hospital, and my child-adolescent fellowship at Mount Sinai. I work with anyone and everyone! I also have specific interests in transgender people or people working through their gender identity, as well as the Asian American experience.

I have worked with individuals, for the past 10+ years, from all different walks of life and facing different experiences including depression, anxiety, addiction, mood disorders, trauma, stress management and more.
I have been in the health care field for over 10 years. When working with individuals, I believe it’s important to take a humanistic approach and focus on what a client’s goals. Providing a safe non-judgement space is important in order to have a successful relationship. I like to meet individuals where they are and utilize a person-centered approach when discussing coping skills or creating goals for outside of the counseling session.

I’ve been working with women, children and families for over 15 years in individual counseling, group settings, and program development. My expertise lies in helping people understand their own emotional experience, to use words not violence, to cope, to reduce impulsive and compulsive behavior, to advocate for themselves.
I believe to live fully, we must feel. Intensely. Viscerally. Freely. To feel pride and pain, joy and frustration. To taste the freedoms of life, as well as its restraints. To reconcile thoughts, actions and emotions that are often at odds. To square all of this with culture, beliefs, and history. To live fully is when a sense of equity, equality and balance is awakened. To live fully is to gain perspective and know that you can weather all of it, and not be overcome by these complexities, but learn to integrate them, for a full life.
